Katherine Marie Leduc

Memorial service for Kay Leduc, age 80, will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 24, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Verden, OK.  Pastor Lynn Bellamy will officiate.

Katherine Marie Leduc was born September 20, 1942 to Walter Sutton Turner and Virginia Marie Thompson Turner. She was later adopted by Bob and Joann Wynn. She married Johnny Lee Wisdom on March 6, 1959 and to that union was born two children, Debbie and Ricky.

Kay spent most of her life in California. When the children were young, she worked at Douglas making parts for airplanes, later she moved RV’s around the United States. Her children have many wonderful memories of great adventures with their Mom….drive in movies, camping, riding motorcycles, boating and water skiing to name a few. Kay loved her long career with the Coachella California school system, where she worked as cafeteria supervisor and retired after 21 years of service. She married Larry Leduc on January 13, 2001. They enjoyed years of traveling around the United States in their RV. Kay loved the bluegrass festivals. They later relocated in Sulphur, Oklahoma to be near her daughter Debbie Gresham. As a child, Kay played violin and was in ballet. She loved her dogs and treated them like family. Kay enjoyed traveling with her family and going on cruises, her family was her heart!

She is survived by her two children Debbie Gresham and husband Lawrence of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ricky Wisdom and wife Anna of Indio, California. She has 7 grandchildren Brandy Stallings, Denise Gresham, Joshua Wisdom, Christopher Wisdom, Ricky Wisdom Jr., Jacob Wisdom and Zachary Wisdom. 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Joann Wynn and her husband Larry Leduc.

Cremation arrangements are with McRay Funeral Home.

Delbert Gene Akins

Funeral service for Delbert Gene Akins, age 81 of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Northside Church of Christ under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Delbert Gene Akins was born the son of Lee Arthur Akins and Ethel Lee (Cocheran) Akins on July 6, 1941, in Anadarko, Oklahoma and died on October 15, 2022 at his home in Chickasha.  He attended Cement Schools.  He worked for 19th Seed Company when he met Shirley Myatt who was working at a café in Konawa where he would eat.  They married June 4, 1961.  He started working at USAO in 1961 and retired in 1995.  Delbert was a member of Northside Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years.

He loved camping, fishing and jeeping in Creede, Colorado, every year.  He spent many hours sitting around the campfire visiting with family and whittling. He was a master wood carver.  He also enjoyed riding horses and would ride every chance he could.  He also spent 30 years volunteering at Grand Elementary sharing his whittlings every year.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.  

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter and son-in-law Jeanie and Lynn Lee; son, Ron Akins and fiancé TaMara Skipworth; grandchildren: Austin Akins, Corbin and Kylie Lee, Tanner Akins, Rabecca Akins, Caitlyn and Colton Adams, Kylie Layne and Bryar Berry; great-grandchildren: Emberly and Bristol Adams, Adeline Lee and Oaklynn Layne; and sister Margie Akins.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.



Jane Grace Burns

Graveside funeral service for Jane Grace Burns, 76, of Chickasha, OK was held Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Gracemont Cemetery, under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. Sister Alice Wendling officiated.

Jane was born the daughter of Marvel and Ruth Burns on April 17, 1946 in Crawford County Pennsylvania.  She died on October 11, 2022 in Chickasha.

Jane grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania. After getting married she moved to Gracemont, OK to be near her mother; later moving to Chickasha where she lived for the rest of her life.  During her life she served others in her work as a waitress.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marvel and Ruth Burns and brothers Jonathan Burns and Elwood Southwick.

Jane is survived by her son and wife David and Thelma Burns; grandchildren Ashley Quillin, Brooke Burns, Megan Hickman and David Burns, Jr. as well as eight great-grandchildren.



Anna Maria Edens

Graveside funeral service for Anna Edens, age 85, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00am, Saturday October 8, 2022 at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.    Viewing will be on Thursday and Friday from 9:00am until 7:00pm.

Anna passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 3, 2022.  She was born on October 25, 1936 to Josef and Hermine Grimbs in Bishofruet, Germany.   

The union with SFC. Robert Buckner, Sr. was blessed with four boys.  Anna moved to the united states in 1958. She married Benny Edens on May 14, 1979 in Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Anna also worked two jobs and would attend all the sporting events that she could.  She was strict but did the best that she could.  She loved animals and crocheting in her spare time, baking her special German cookies.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents Josef and Hermenai Grimbs; her brothers Alois Grimbs, Ludwick Grimbs, Mox Grimbs, Otto Grimbs, Adorlge Grimbs; two sisters Maria Grimbs and Gerty Grimbs; Grandson-in-law SSG Leonard S. Henderson and husband Benny Edens. 

Survivors include her sister Berta Grimbs of Bishofreut, Germany; sons and wives Robert and Lorrie Buckner, Larry and Karen Buckner, Max and Linda Buckner and Jack Buckner, Bobby and Diane Edens, Bernie and Trinity Edens, Brady and Dawn Edens and Ben Edens.  Grandchildren are Brian Buckner, Jessica Vasquez, Karley Buckner, SGM Chrishelle Mckenzie, Janelle Henderson, Lorrin Kim, Kyle Buckner, Zach Buckner and Preston Buckner along with 11 great grandchildren.

Helen Louise Handke

Funeral service for Helen Louise Handke, age 94, will be Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Verden, OK under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Helen was born the daughter of John and Mildred Nath on November 29, 1927 in El Reno, OK.  She died on October 4, 2022 in Chickasha, OK.

Helen moved to Verden as a young child.  She married Andrew Handke in 1944 and graduated from Verden High School in 1946.  The couple made their home in Verden prior to moving to Dutton where she and her husband started farming.  She also worked at the Dutton Store.  They farmed for years in the Dutton area before moving to the family farm south of Lake Chickasha where they farmed for many more years.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Handke; her parents John and Mildred Nath; her brother Clifford and her sister Lillian.

She is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann James and husband Keith; son Kenneth Handke and wife Kay; son Keith Handke and wife Judy; brother Clyde Nath and wife Pauline; grandchildren Judi and husband Glen Wood, Natalie and husband Scott Church, Reed and wife Emily James, Roxi and husband Kyle Tallent, Amy and husband Brad Zerger, Derek and wife Kristy Handke; great-grandchildren Rebecca Wood, William and Weston Church, Piper and Reese James, Kylee and Rylon Tallent, Ethan and Dylan Zerger and Makenzie, Katelyn and Evan Handke.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery.
