Donald Anthony Trammell

Graveside funeral service for Donald A. Trammell, 68, of Chickasha, OK will be at 10:00am, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK. Viewing will be Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am-7:00pm with the family receiving visitors from 4:00pm-6:00pm Thursday.

Donald (Blue) Trammell was born on January 11, 1954 to Lee Roy Trammell and Dorothy Jones Trammell.  He died on September 10, 2022.  He was raised in the Chickasha area all of his life.  He grew up in a large, close knit family and over the years acquired many friendships, some life long.  He married his high school sweetheart, Mary J McKim, in 1973.  Together they raised their daughter Brande and her little brother Donnie (his name sake), who passed away at three years of age.  Over the course of their 49 years of marriage he and Mary enjoyed helping to raise their three grandchildren; Ariana Brown, Ethan Trammell and Gracie Lee (Trammell).  Blue cherished his two great-grandbabies Kyrie Gene and Kiersleigh Don, ages two and nine months.

He was a wonderful friend, brother, cousin, uncle and husband who fulfilled his roll as “Dad,” “PaPa” and “Great Grampa” very well.  He was a hard worker, jack of all trades, “go to” guy who could fix just about anything and was loved by all who knew him.  Blue was a lover, a fighter, a loyal friend that was always ready to help anyone he could, any way he could.  He was good at everything he endeavored to do, working as a carpenter and an oil field hand. He held various supervisor positions and ended a 20 year career as a truck driver in 2016.  He was always an excellent provider for his family.

He had a quick witted way of expressing himself.  He could compliment or cut you all in the same breath, but you loved him anyway!  Blue was a clown and smart aleck, cracking everyone up one minute or hurting your feelings the next minute!  He was bold and fearless all of his life, right up to the end, and died peacefully in his sleep at home with his loved ones nearby.

He was preceded in death by his father Lee Roy Trammell; mother Dorothy Trammell Franklin and stepfather Ottis Lee Franklin; brothers Denny, David and Daniel; and sisters Virginia Haner and Valery Franklin.

He is survived by his wife Mary Trammell of the home; Diana and Davey Miller of Rush Springs; Claudette and Michael Holsapple of Oklahoma City; Lee Ann and Scottie Williams of Marlow; Doug and Cheryl Trammell of El Reno; and Terry Franklin of Louisiana.

Arrangements are with McRay Funeral Home.
