Victor Dean Valdes
Funeral service for Victor Dean Valdes, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 27, 2021 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Vaughn Wand will officiate.
Victor Dean Valdes was born the son of Eugene and Mary Etta Mosher Valdes on March 9, 1944 in Dowagiac, Michigan. He died on November 21, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dean grew up in Michigan where he served in the National Guard and managed A&P grocery stores. He moved to Oklahoma in the mid 1980's to do roofing. It was here that he met Rita and they were married on November 28, 1991. He worked at Gabriel as a fork lift driver for over 30 years. Dean enjoyed life. He liked car racing, football, taking care of his lawn, doing word search puzzles and cooking. He made the best hamburgers. He had a special friend–a squirrel that he named Foxy, whom he loved watching and feeding nuts. Dean especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. Dean loved his grandchildren and his sons Thomas Raby, Robert Lee Valdes and Todd Dean Valdes.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Mary Etta Valdes; sister Charlene Valdes; son Thomas Raby; and grandson Sydney Raby.
Dean is survived by his wife Rita C. Valdes; sons from a previous marriage Robert Lee Valdes and Todd Dean Valdes; grandsons Nick Valdes and Chase Valdes; sister Mary Jean Valdes; and brother Donald Valdes.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Marla Jean Howell
Funeral service for Marla Jean Howell of Chickasha will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Bible Baptist Church. Brother Kim Hayes will officiate.
Marla Jean Howell, 65, went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021. She was born August 5, 1956 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Rosie and Helen Ambrose.
Marla graduated from Yukon High School in 1974.
On March 30th of 1973 Marla was married to the love of her life Kenny Howell. They shared 48 years of life, marriage, and memories together. Marla and Kenny spent their entire marriage sharing the love and hope of Jesus to those around them.
Marla and Kenny moved to Chickasha in 1976, with their son Kenny. In 1978 Marla opened Marla’s Shoe Bizarre then later went to work part time for the family businesses Ambrose Construction and H&H Siding while being a stay at home mom. In 1995 she went to work for Dwight A. Sehon Accounting handling the bookkeeping and continued her career there until 2000. In 2000 Marla found her true passion for real estate and began her career as a realtor. She had a true gift for helping people and helping her clients find their forever home. Marla’s work ethic was second to none and she worked tirelessly to make sure all the small details were covered. Through real estate she shared the miracles that had been worked in her life and the hope she had in Jesus Christ. Marla was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
Marla enjoyed watching her grandkids grow and attending as many of their activities as she possible could. Her most prized possession was her family and grandchildren.
Marla was preceded in death by her father James(Rosie) Ambrose and father-n-law Jim Howell.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenny Howell of Chickasha; son Kenny Howell Jr. and wife Melissa of Denton, TX; daughter Deah Surber and husband Matt of Tuttle OK; grandson Luke Surber; granddaughters Madi Surber and Emma Howell; brother Jimmy Ambrose and wife Barbara of Lone Wolf, OK; mother Helen Ambrose of Chickasha; mother-n-law Ina Howell of Chickasha; brother-n-law Danny Howell and wife Susie of Chickasha; brother-n-law Jimmy Howell and wife Tammy of Chickasha; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the outpouring love and compassion during this time.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Barbara Schmidt, 76, of Chickasha, will be held at2:00 pm, Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Plainview Mennonite Church.
Barbara E. Schmidt was born March 16, 1945, the daughter of Dorothy and Charles Leonard in Ogden, Utah. Barbara grew up in Colorado. On October 5, 1963 she married Lawrence E. Schmidt of Chickasha, OK. They made their home in Chickasha, OK and resided there until her passing on November 11, 2021. Barbara was employed by the clinic in Chickasha for several years and enjoyed helping people. She also worked for E.B. Cole Air Conditioning and worked for the Grady County Courthouse for over twenty years.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Lawrence Schmidt, son Lawrence Schmidt, Jr. and daughter Laura Cervantez and spouse Richard Cervantez. She also has three grandchildren; Jordan Cervantez and spouse, Jessica Cervantez, Alyssa Cervantez Hutchins and spouse Johnathon Hutchins and Mason Schmidt; five great-grandchildren Maggie, Julian and Theodore Cervantez and Harlow and Phoenix Hutchins.
Barbara is very well loved and will be greatly missed.
Interment will be in the Plainview Mennonite Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Brent Ray Hughes
Graveside funeral service for Brent Hughes, 70, of Chickasha, OK will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 12, 2021 in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Buster Sides will officiate.
Brent Ray Hughes was born the son of Clifton and Bonnie Hughes on May 16, 1951 in Chickasha, OK. He died on November 8, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Brent grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. He then graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK before going to work in the oilfield. In September, 1978 he began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He retired after 28 years service as a repairman. Brent loved anything having to do with cars and horses. He especially loved playing with his grandson. He was a member of Blanchard Church of Christ.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Bonnie Hughes.
Brent is survived by his wife Janice Hughes, daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Dale Hughes and their son Peyton, sister Brenda Wright and husband John, sister Belinda Adams and husband Jim, mother-in-law Fern Adams, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Sharon Pennington will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Full Gospel Church in Chickasha. Sister Alice Wendling will officiate.
Sharon was born the daughter of Glen Dwayne Grissam and Carol A. Cuellar on April 3, 1963 in Lindsey, OK. She died on November 7, 2021 in Yukon, OK.
Ralph and Sharon started their second marriages on September 14, 1990 with their five sons. When Ralph and Sharon got together Ralph would sing the song “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On” when they heard it on the radio. Sharon loved to crochet and watch old television shows like Perry Mason with Ralph. She also watched the History Channel and loved listening to the 70's music. She worked at McDonald’s and as a cook at a nursing home until Ralph asked and begged her to be a full time housewife. She didn’t care about the military, but she supported her husband and three sons that served and retired from the military and the one that is still serving.
Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents Harold and Hazel Grissam and Henry and Beulah Cuellar, mother Carol A. Rodgers and grandson Sirus Pennington.
Sharon is survived by her husband Ralph L. Pennington, Jr., son Ralph Pennington, III and wife Kim, son Joseph Pennington and wife Brianna, son Tommy J. Holley, son Billy Holley and wife Tami, son Ricky Holley and wife Candice, parents Glen and Karen Grissam, sister Valorie Madron and husband Troy, sister Donna Sestak, sister Jennifer and husband Pumba Botha, brother Glen D. Grissam, Jr. and wife LeAnn, sister Misty Brake, sister Megan Grissam, sister Hannah Brake and brother Cory Brake. She has 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with three more on the way, whom she loved very much. She also had many nieces and nephews and best friend Beverely Walthall.
Interment will be in the Bradley Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Floyd Kevin Hair
Memorial service for Kevin Hair, 65, of Chickasha, OK will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha.
Floyd Kevin Hair was a well loved father, son and brother. He was such a good brother-in-law that he just had to be called “brother.” He never met a stranger and could talk the ear off of anyone he met. He liked to talk about cars and fishing, but most of all he liked talking about his kids and grandkids. He spoke often of how proud of them he was. Of all the things he was proud of and the things he loved, he loved to be called Grandpa. One of the most important things Kevin expressed through his love of conversation is that he loved his fellow man. Kevin believed in God and followed His plan of salvation. Kevin was a kind man who would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was his last shirt. He never said no to anyone. Kevin was a friend to everyone he met and was fiercely loyal. He was an artisan who was greatly skilled at his work. He loved the outdoors and his dream was to retire to the lake, fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids for the rest of his life.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents Alton and Alma Carter and James and Alice Hair; his father Jerry Hair and his grandson Joseph Sean Hair.
Kevin is survived by his mother AnnaBelle Hair of Chickasha, OK; brother Randy Hair and wife Kay of Norman, OK; sister Cheryl Mantooth and husband Kenneth of Tipton, OK; mother of his children, Kelly Hair of Chickasha, OK; son Isaac Hair of Chickasha, OK; daughter Shauna Ross and husband Jon of Castle Rock, CO; son Kyle Hair and wife Kassie of Castle Rock, CO; son Wade Hair and wife Krystle of Weatherford, OK; four grandkids Aubrey Hair, Noah Ross, Joslyn Hair and Gavin Hair along with several nieces and nephews.

Courtney Nicole Otey
Funeral service for Courtney Otey will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the Southern Baptist Chapel in Alex, Oklahoma.
Courtney Nicole Otey, 31, was born January 5, 1990 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully at her home October 31, 2021.
Courtney was a 2008 graduate of Rush Springs High School. She married Cody Otey September 13, 2011. They have three children: Cope, Cord, and Coejack. Courtney took pride in raising 3 Otey boys. Her life revolved around making sure they knew how much she loved them and how honored she was to be their mommy. Courtney enjoyed cheering on not only her children, but also her nephews at ballgames, by being their loudest fan in the stands. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed being the host of any event that brought her family and friends together. She was a fighter and had a positive outlook on any situation she was in.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Dana Doby; grandparents Wilford and Carmirita Lyons, and Clifford and Rosalee Nath.
She is survived by husband, Cody and children Cope, Cord, and Coejack. Siblings: Brook, Sam, Skyla, Candace, and Savannah. Parents: Bret and Gail Nath and Gary Rayburn. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to help with funeral expenses. There is an account set up at First National Bank in Alex.

Neil Franklin O’Neal
Funeral service for Neil O’Neal, 78, of Chickasha, OK will be at 10:00am, Friday, November 5, 2021 at Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha. Ron Blankinship will officiate.
Neil Franklin O’Neal was born the son of Armon and Ozella O’Neal on December 1, 1942 in San Francisco, CA. He died on October 30, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Neil served on the fire department for five years prior to going to work for Keebler Baking Company where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement. He and his wife Sharon traveled often to the Texas coast where they spent nine winters. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including tennis, skiing, camping, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and dune buggies. Neil was a member of Southern Oaks Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents Armon and Ozella O’Neal and his brother Larry Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his best friends Bo Crawford and C.L. Leverett.
Neil is survived by his wife Sharon; son and wife Greg and Angela O’Neal; granddaughter McKinsey Hastings; great-grandson Seth Hastings; sister and husband Shirley and Larry Hudson; and several nephews.
Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery.
Viewing will be at McRay Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am until 7:00pm.
