Leighton (Lex) Paul Laird

Leighton (Lex) Laird was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on October 29, 1945 to R.O. Laird and Alice Laird. He graduated from Chickasha High School and then went on to graduate from UCO. He worked as a trim carpenter for Perdue Industries for numerous years. Afterwards he started his own business in the oil and gas industry from which he never retired. Lex was a founder and member of Gateway to Hope Chapel and he was also a member of the Gideons for 20 plus years. Lex married Glenna on March 1, 1991. He was an avid sports fan, loved chasing trains and listening to the blues and jazz.

Lex was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older brother, Stephen Laird.

Lex is survived by his wife Glenna; one son, Keith Wilson and his wife Theresa Wilson; one daughter, Kristyl Reed and her husband Jerry Reed; 11 grandchildren, Jordyn, Jeremy, Keiley, Derek, Allyson, Jarett, Kameryn, Connor, Jenna, Kaitlyn, and Colby; his niece Michelle Laird Heath and her husband Clint; their son Braden; and many other nieces and nephews that were very special to him. He is also survived by his long time best friend John Hinds.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Grand Assembly of God Church, 102 East Almar Drive, Chickasha, OK.

Interment will be in the Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Harold Edward Wilson

Graveside service for Harold E. Wilson will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2019 in the Cement Cemetery, Cement, OK.

Harold E. Wilson of Chickasha, OK was born April 15, 1940 in Wetumka, OK to parents Mary and Harem Wilson.  He passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 in Chickasha at the age of 79.

Harold worked at Arvin/Gabriel for 25 years while he owned and operated Moonlight Nursery.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Rosalee Wilson;  his stepdaughter Jennifer Moomaw;  his parents Mary and Harem Wilson; and two brothers, Joe and Ed Wilson.

He is survived by his daughter Leona Wilson; two sons Jim Wilson and Harold Joe Wilson; two stepsons Eric Moomaw and Martin Moomaw; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three brothers William Wilson, Rayburn Wilson and Cecil Wilson.

Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Oneta Marie Bennett

Funeral service for Oneta Marie Bennett, age 78 of Ninnekah, OK will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Ninnekah Church of Christ.  Brian Johnson will officiate.  Singing will be provided by the Plainview Mennonite Choir and Landon Lewis leading congregational songs.

Oneta was born the daughter of Ontie and Leta Jones on August 23, 1940 in the Keechi Community near Cement, OK.  She died in Chickasha on June 3, 2019.

Oneta graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1959, then later graduated from USAO.  She married Richard Bennett in 1966 in Chickasha and they lived various places in Stephens County and Carter County.  In 1975, they moved to Ninnekah.  Oneta worked as a case worker for the Department of Human Services, retiring after 20 years.  She was an avid reader.  She also loved to crochet and sew.  But her true passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Oneta was a member of OHCE for many years.  She was also a member of the Ninnekah Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ontie and Leta Jones and her father-in-law B.F. Bennett.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Bennett; daughter Leta Pruitt and husband Jim; son Ricky Bennett and wife Rhonda; grandchildren Lindsay and husband Moe, Leslie and husband Paden, Loren and husband Cade, Rylea, and Jay; great grandchildren Paslie, Stormi, and Rynlea; sister Beulah Pope and husband Dale; brother-in-law Clyde Bennett and wife Bonita; mother-in-law Jessie Bennett; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
