Barbara Joan Thomas
Funeral service for Barbara Joan Thomas, age 90 of Ninnekah, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the McRay Funeral Home Chapel.
Barbara was born the daughter of Admiral Monroe Pownell and Edythe Georgia Bush Pownell on July 1, 1928 in Pawhuska, OK. She died at her home in rural Ninnekah on January 19, 2019.
During her childhood years, Barbara lived in several towns in Oklahoma as the family followed her fathers work. She eventually moved to Lindsay, OK where she graduated from Lindsay High School. She then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, graduating in 1950. She married Max Thomas in 1950, and from that union came five children, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Barbara was a member of OHCE for 50 years. She was also a member of the Alex United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Max Thomas; daughter Linda Kelley and husband Keith; daughter Susan McAnally and husband Rex; son G.P. "Pat" Thomas; son Joe Thomas and wife Dee; son William "Bill" Thomas and wife Mary; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister Doris Gee and husband Ben; niece Lauri Gee Warren and husband Keith and their four children; and nephew David Gee and wife Justine and their two children.
Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Eugene “Gene” Ronald Brooks
Graveside service for Eugene “Gene” Ronald Brooks, age 79 of Cement will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, OK.
Gene was born the son of Ronald Charles Brooks and Lorrette May Bessette Brooks on May 16, 1939 in Lyndon, Vermont. He died January 5, 2019 in Chickasha, OK.
Gene graduated from high school in St. Johnsberry, Vermont. He then spent 3 years in the Air Force. He married Mary Stancil in 1959 and they moved to Massachusetts so that he could work in the family construction business. In 1978 they moved to Grady County southwest of Chickasha. Gene continued in construction work and farmed on the side. After the death of his wife he moved to Cement.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Lorrette Brooks; wife Mary Brooks and infant sister Florence Brooks.
Gene is survived by his son Tim Brooks and Betty; daughter Tina Moore and Greg; grandchildren Fauna Hankins and Rick, Natasha Brooks and Matt, Justin McConnell and Amanda, and Joshua Brooks and Larissa; great-grandchildren Gunner, Ryker, Bentley and Jayce; and numerous other family.
Viewing will begin on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.

June Ilene Horn
Funeral service for June Ilene (Burr) Horn, age 98 of Verden, OK will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ.
June was born the daughter of Thomas Burr and Belle Mattison Burr on June 28, 1920 near Pineville, Missouri. She died on January 5, 2019 at her daughter’s home.
June moved to Oklahoma City when she was 12 years old. She spent one year in California during the dust bowl, before returning to Oklahoma City where she graduated from Capital Hill High School. She then worked at an advertising agency and in a doctor’s office. June married William Henry Horn on February 14, 1942 in Oklahoma City before moving to Lawton. She returned to Oklahoma City after his deployment to the Pacific. Upon his return from the war, they spent two years in Oklahoma City before moving to the Verden area on March 1, 1947, where she spent the rest of her life. She helped with farming, raising cattle, and running a filling station and a donut shop. She also worked at a dress shop and sold Avon products.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Henry Horn, sister Faye (Burr) Brashear, and brother Forest Ray Burr.
Survivors include daughter Donna Gillenwaters and husband Harold of Chickasha; daughter Sandra Bachle and husband Bill of Oklahoma City; grandson Gregory Gillenwaters and wife Chie of Austin, TX; great granddaughter Michelle Gillenwaters and great grandson William Gillenwaters of Austin, TX.
Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Ramos Roger “Reno” Francis
Funeral service for Ramos Roger “Reno” Francis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday January 8, 2019 at the Ninnekah Church of Christ. Thomas Wood will officiate.
Ramos Roger Francis was born March 21, 1947 in Eufaula, OK. He died January 3, 2019 in Chickasha.
Reno grew up in Stidham, OK where he graduated from high school. He then attended Haskell Indian Nation University in Lawrence, KS for a year. During his lifetime he had many jobs including welding, furniture upholstery and refinishing, roofing, lawn care and electrician’s apprentice. After moving to Chickasha he worked at Chickasha Manufacturing and Oklahoma Folding Carton in Minco. He was a runner and an avid sports fan who loved to play softball. He loved to go fishing, especially with his grandchildren, and playing board games. Reno was very proud of his native heritage and was quite active in the sweat lodge. He was a funny man who had a positive outlook on life. He could find the humor in any situation and was well known for his friendly smile. Reno was unquestionably dedicated to his family.
Reno was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter, Savanna.
Reno is survived by his wife Verna Francis; children by marriage Thomas and Jennifer Wood; Skye and Warren Custer; and Dusty Wood; and grandchildren Dawson, Holly, Jimmy, Caleb and Gabriel.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Jack Ray Blair
Funeral service for Jack Ray Blair, age 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00am Monday, January 7, 2019 at Central Assembly of God Church. Reverend J.W. Wyckoff will officiate.
Jack Ray Blair was born the son of Elmer Blair and Millie York Blair on December 25, 1929 in Purcell, OK. He died January 3, 2019 in Duncan, OK.
Jack was born and spent most of his childhood in Purcell, OK. He married Bethel Masters on November 8, 1952 and they were married for 66 years at the time of her passing in August, 2018. Most of their married life was lived in Chickasha where Jack worked for the Chickasha Parks Department. When he wasn’t at work he spent much of his life breaking, riding and selling horses.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Millie Blair and his wife Bethel Blair.
Jack is survived by his daughter Barbara Saverino and her husband Antonio; grandson Sebastian Saverino; and brother Bill Blair and his wife Betty.
Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. There will be no viewing.
Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
