Dorothy Swick Brandt was born on December 11, 1930 to Ed and Betty Swick in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She died on May 5, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Dorothy attended Corpus Christi Catholic school from first grade through ninth grade, then attended and graduated from Northeast High School.  She married Charlie Brandt on January 27, 1951 in Oklahoma City.  They moved their family to Chickasha in 1960 where Charlie started Brandt Fleet Distributors.  Dorothy was one of the last of the great generations of stay-at-home moms.  She was a great cook, self-taught seamstress and a blessing to her family.  Her wants in life were simple:  to be a good wife to a good man and raise their children to be responsible adults—mission accomplished.  She was a long-standing member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Chickasha.  Later in life she worked in the office at Brandt’s Hardware.  She spent her life putting others before herself.  She was selfless to a fault at times.  In her golden years she loved going on vacations with her family and grandkids to Colorado.  Her Rocky Mountain highs consisted of coffee in the mornings and wine in the evening.  She just couldn’t get enough of the mountains.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Brandt; her parents Ed and Betty Swick; brother Gene Swick; Charlie’s parents Leo and Ruth Brandt; brother-in-law LeRoy Brandt; sister-in-law Barbara Brandt Schwartz; brother-in-law Larry Joe Brandt; sister-in-law Linda Brandt Twyman; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mildred and Jack Nashert.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Jerry Swick and wife Kathleen; sister-in-law Linda Brandt; brother-in-law George Twyman; daughter Debbie and husband David Courtney; son Steve Brandt and wife Lori; son Tony Brandt and wife Pam; six grandchildren: Charlie Courtney, Andrew Courtney, Amber Brandt Ballard, Alicia Brandt Jameson, Deven Brandt McMahan and Brooke Brandt along with five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Brookdale Senior Living Center and their staff who treated Mom with such kindness for the last several months.

Dorothy’s favorite charities included the Holy Name Catholic Church Building Fund; St. Jude’s Hospital; Life Choices of Chickasha and Friends Fur Change in Chickasha.
